Assistant Chief is Guest Instructor at TEEX Municipal Fire Academy

Assistant Chief Robert Noah is one of the guest instructors for the 80th annual Municipal Fire Academy July 20th - 25th. Assistant Chief Noah will be instructing Advanced Municipal Fire Operations, which is the highest level achievable in the hands-on field courses. The Municipal Fire School is one of the most comprehensive firefighter training and emergency services instruction and takes place at the world renowned Brayton Fire Field. The field, located in College Station, TX is a 120-acre facility and boasts the largest, live-fueled fire training facility in the world.

This year, Chief Perry Debord will be taking the Fire Service Officer Development V course. The course covers situational leadership, pre-incident preparedness and the Incident Command System. FSOD V is a combination of the National Fire Academy Leadership III course and MCTO-S; Managing Company Tactical Operations-Simulations. The community will benefit significantly from the knowledge Debord will gain from the course.
   


Four Attend TEEX Municipal Fire Academy

Chief Perry Debord and Assistant Chief Robert Noah with firefighters Chris Bennett and Kenneth Sherman attended the prestigious TEEX Municipal Fire Academy July 22nd - 27th. Debord and Noah successfully completed Firefighting Phase V, the highest level achievable in the hands-on field courses. Bennett and Sherman completed Firefighting Phase I.

Located adjacent to the Texas A&M University campus, the 120-acre facility attracts more than 45,000 emergency responders from all 50 states and more than 45 countries each year. Established in 1931, Brayton Fire Training Field is the largest live-fueled firefighter training facility in the world. Brayton's 132 training stations with 22 live-fueled fire props, offer emergency responders unsurpassed instruction not only in firefighting, but also rescue, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, marine, aircraft and emergency management. The firefighter's attendance at the academy is a tremendous asset to the community they serve.
   


Rolling Oaks first responder training

The department is entering it's final phase of training to obtain it's First Responder certification. Everyone passed the classroom exam on their first attempt. The final state exam must be passed prior to certification. The training is being taught by Wills Point Fire Department chief Chuck Allen and was made possible through a grant awarded by the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company.
   


ROVFD to form lake search & recovery team

Four volunteers of ROVFD recently obtained PADI Scuba certification. One member also currently holds an SSI certification. Future plans are for ROVFD to form a Search & Recovery team to service Lake Tawakoni. The four members will continue certification to Search & Recovery status.
